How much does the grant cover?

On eligible improvements, My Safe Florida Home generally matches your money 2-to-1, up to a $10,000 state contribution. In practice: spend $5,000, and the state can reimburse up to $10,000 toward the project.

What does the My Safe Florida Home grant pay for?

The program exists to harden Florida homes against hurricanes, and protecting your openings — windows and doors — is one of the biggest ways to do that. Eligible upgrades have included:

  • Impact-rated windows — single-hung, horizontal roller, casement and fixed glass.
  • Exterior doors — impact entry doors, French doors and sliding glass doors.
  • Garage doors and other openings that need wind-rated protection.
  • Roof-related wind upgrades — handled by a roofer; your inspection report shows what applies.

What is the My Safe Florida Home grant?

My Safe Florida Home (MSFH) is a State of Florida program, run through the Department of Financial Services, that helps homeowners strengthen their homes against hurricanes. It provides a free wind mitigation inspection and a matching grant — generally $2 in state funds for every $1 you spend, up to $10,000 — toward approved improvements such as impact-rated windows and doors.

How much money can I get for impact windows?

Up to $10,000 as a 2-to-1 match (the state adds $2 for every $1 you spend), subject to available funding and your eligibility. Amounts are “up to” and never guaranteed.

Do I have to pay the grant back?

No. It’s a grant, not a loan. The grant is reimbursement-based: you pay for the completed work, then the state reimburses its approved share.

Can I use EZ Glazing for my My Safe Florida Home project?

Yes. As of 2024 the program lets homeowners choose their own licensed Florida contractor — there is no approved-contractor list. EZ Glazing is licensed and insured (Lic. #SCC131153391), so you can choose us to install your grant-eligible impact windows and doors.

Does the grant cover impact doors as well as windows?

How is the grant different from insurance wind-mitigation credits?
